| Post subject: | Neoprene carbon dust mask |
Has anyone tried it and is it suitable for wood dust? I have a tough time finding masks that will fit my face comfortably and this one claims to conform since it made from neoprene. Reviews I read have been good, but I have not read any reviews from any woodworkers. I'm looking at the one made by Eurow. Specifically Eurow neoprene carbon dust mask. Wendy |

I haven't seen or used one of those. I use one of these for sanding, and other dusty stuff. http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2020033/19327/Power-Mask-Powered-Respirator.aspx Since it's positive pressure it doesn't have to fit perfectly. A note. Haans had one and didn't like it. |

Woody, it may work fine for you (no disrespect here), but I have to toss in a warning. The unit has lousy filtration IMO and was pumping dust right into my lungs. When compared to the pink 3M filter and mask, well let's say it looses by a mile and more. That thing almost killed me... Wendy, The latest 3M (7500) is nice with a new material for the mould for the face. I've worn it for hours with little discomfort. My only complaint is that sometimes it drips out the snout, but to me that's minor to the lung protection. I have not seen the mask you mention, but I will look it up. One cannot have too many face masks... OK, I have looked at it and it looks interesting, but nowhere do I find specs on the filtration. 3M filtration with the P100 2091 is HEPA filtration with NIOSH 42 CFR84 classification of filtration (the best, filters 99.something %) The best I could find for the Eurow is it is blue. |

Thanks Haans, I also was not able to find any specs on the filtration, other than they claim it is active carbon filtered. I may give it a try. I sure would like to hear from someone who has used one. I will also check out the 3M 7500. Wendy |

Sure Wendy. Note that there are a bunch of filters with it but only 2 activated carbon, and they have limited time use. Activated carbon filters out fumes. |
